This guest post features Erin of My Imaginative Effort. I asked her to share her worst date experience. Ladies, gents--enjoy the awkwardness.
Where do I begin? I have been on so many terrible dates, it's comical.
But, for some reason I continue to say yes because I love a good awkward date story. And boy, do I have some great awkward date stories.
Everything from being taken to a family reunion on a first date, being asked out via text(not okay), being taken clothes shopping(is that a date?), being sung romanitcal love songs by a terrible singer(whom I did not like in that way), blind group date where all the other couples were long married..the list goes on. And, actually, most of the awkwardness comes from being set up on a blind date. Hmmm. But, for some unknown reason,
I keep saying yes.
This mildly awkward story is about Brady.
Brady and I became close friends in high school. He was so much fun, really funny, interesting to talk to and was interested talking with me. An all around great guy. He loved his family. And. He was attractive(a total plus). He would even occasionally would stop by my house for random chats. He would even take me on drives in his [fancy] cars, would bring things back from Disneyland for me... One time, he even invited me to his house so he could make breakfast for me(how adorable, right?) because I had never eaten a sourdough pancake. I was completely crushing on him.
The first time he asked me on a date he was really vague. He called me(woot!) and asked if I would go jet skiing with him. I was elated. Of course I said yes! He said he would talk to me later in the week about details...I couldn't wait and was practically glowing until a couple days later....
...when his FRIEND Isaac called me. (which was completely random, I barely KNEW Isaac and was not expecting a call from him.) I asked him why he was calling after a short chat about the weather or something completely unrelated. Isaac told me he would pick me up to go jet skiing; gave me the day, time, etc.... I was super confused wondering why Brady would have Isaac call for him. Brady and I were great friends! However, I blew it off and waited patiently for the day of jet skiing to roll around.
At the said time, Brady pulled up to my house right on time. The car was parked, and both Isaac AND Brady got out of the car to come to the door to get me. (Whaaaa?!) Confused, I made my mother answer the door to get the info. And. As it turns out, it was really Isaac who was taking me on the date (did he need Brady there at the door for moral support?... Who knows.). Still confused, I just went with it. I also had never been jet skiing before and didn't wear the appropriate clothing. Isaac and I doubled up on one jet ski, which was awesome..not. It was so awkward, I was soaking wet and I smelled like lake water.
Not to mention I was totally upset that Brady had asked a gorgeous girl to be his date. AND he was totally flirting with her the entire time. Needless to say, it was awkward and slightly miserable. Especially because I thought we had feelings for each other! Goo. (lesson learned... Communication is key, people!)
The date ended with Brady pulling up to my house, I got out of the car with Isaac. Isaac and I exchanged the ol' high five. I booked it inside my house, mortified.
Oy. Thanks for sharing the awkwards, Erin!!
xoxo, B.

I love this post! Hilarious and so so awkard. I think some of the best group conversations are worst date stories. And, don't worry; I have had some HORRIBLE dates in my time.
